Our Cookies are of ancient Greek origin created by a scholar named Paximos. He wrote books on agriculture, and his favorite past-time was baking. The people of his village called his sweet bread Paximadi (Pock-see-mah-dee) , after Paximos. Well known as the Cretan Lent Rusk, aka Paximadia. Paximadia is very popular throughout Greece as a semi-sweet cookie, commonly flavored with anise, orange or almond and topped with sesame. It is excellent with coffee, tea or steamed milk.

In 1993, Paul (Pavlos) Zarkas, whose family's origin is from Chios and Crete, two islands in Greece, created his own version of these all natural Greek Cookies. Today, we just call them Pavlos Cookies, flavorful all-natural single baked delicious semi-sweet munchable, crunchable, dippable fun eating cookie available in a variety of wonderful flavors.

The Cretan Lent Rusk is perfect during Lent Season.  In different regions of Greece there are other variations of Paximadia, which led to the creation of my own versions of these specialty Greek Cookies we call Pavlos Cookies. Cretan Rusk - Greek Style Cookies have an extraordinary combination of flavors of pure vanilla, squeezed orange juice & zest, mild anise, dry roasted almonds, dried cranberries and cherries with roasted sesame. A delicious munchable, crunchable, dippable fun eating cookie.

For our Greek Style cookies, this includes unbleached flour, real butter, pure cane sugar, pure vanilla, premium chocolates, quality nuts, fruits, spices, extra virgin olive oil, fresh eggs, aluminum free baking powder, baking soda and sea salt.  We never use any artificial preservatives or additives, so you can feel good about indulging in our treats and have fun eating Pavlos Cookies.
